Simple. Elegant. Playful. Smart. Old school. New school.
I love stripes just as much, if not more, than the next person. Fact: My closet is 60% stripes. Stripes are appropriate for all occasions and can be mixed and matched with everything and anything. While those should be good enough reasons why Stripes are and will remain a Kindred staple, the primary reason Ballard Stripe was added to our first ever release is because my mom said so.
With Kindred’s April opening I designed somewhere around 20 wrap patterns, and with the help of my mom edited it down to 4. As an extremely talented interior designer and artist, I always check in with her to critique the Kindred pattern and color choices. Being the new kid on the block it was hard to resist throwing out all of the most unique and creative patterns upfront, but her one non-wavering, daily-hourly comment has been, “You need a stripe in there. And it needs to be a bold classic. A 2 ¼” to a ½” stripe. Blue.” That is how detail oriented she is—it’s not just a stripe, but a 2 ¼” to a ½” thick stripe. And she was right, like moms always are. Ballard is simple and bold and goes with everything.
With new trends popping up on the daily and the constant pressure to keep renovating the things in our lives, our hope is that Ballard beats out the trends, and functions as your steadfast go-to wrap.
As the most creative woman I know, my mom’s wardrobe might suggest otherwise, consisting of: white, navy, khaki and stripes. Simple as it may be, her classic approach takes the guessing game out of dressing and no matter what she always looks polished, tailored and effortlessly cool. So, if in doubt, take a nod from my mom and opt for stylish simplicity: throw on a stripe—I promise, and more importantly my mom promises that it won’t lead you astray.
